Self-aligning ball bearings accommodate angular misalignment of the shaft, whether caused by mounting errors or shaft deflection, due to their design with two rows of balls, a common sphered raceway in the outer ring, and two deep uninterrupted raceway grooves in the inner ring. They are insensitive to angular misalignment of the shaft relative to the housing, making them suitable for situations where large shaft deflections or alignment errors are expected.
